Egyptian–Turkish talks on the Libya track
Libya – Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed developments in Libya with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Advancing the political process and ending division
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s media office, the meeting addressed the situation in Libya and ways to make progress in the political process and end the division the country is experiencing.
Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt’s moves on the Libyan file are based on the priority of preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, alongside support for the unity of its national institutions.
He stressed the importance of complementary regional and international efforts supporting the Libyan political track, in a way that helps the Libyan parties reach a sustainable settlement that reflects their will and preserves the unity of the state and its institutions.
