Benghazi as a potential digital telecommunications gateway
LIBYA – High Council of State member Saad Bin Sharada has said the launch of the Ozone Communications and Technology Group in Benghazi represents a step towards developing Libya’s telecommunications sector and keeping pace with the global digital transformation, and could help make the city a digital gateway linking Libya to the African and international sphere.
Prospects for investment and economic diversification
In a Facebook post, Bin Sharada said the initiative could open opportunities for investment and new sources of income for the state, and help diversify the national economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues.
Need for a sustainable strategic vision
He added that Libya has the geographic location and capabilities to benefit from telecommunications technologies, but needs a strategic vision to invest in these opportunities and turn technological progress into a driver of development and sustainable economic returns.
