Paris updates its travel advice for Libyan cities
LIBYA – The French authorities have advised against all travel to Libya, including the capital Tripoli, in the latest update to their travel advice, while limiting visits to Misrata, Sirte and Benghazi to cases of absolute necessity.
Security risks and precautions
According to the embassy’s media office, the advice warns of a volatile security situation, clashes and a high risk of kidnapping and crime, and urges French citizens who must travel to Libya to take strict security precautions.
Consular services from Tunis
The French authorities said consular services were still being run from Tunis, even though the French embassy in Tripoli reopened on 29 March 2021.
