Lt. Gen. Saddam Haftar Inspects Military Bases and Development Projects in Libya’s South

Libya — Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy General Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, paid an inspection visit to al-Sarah Air Base to review operations and coordination mechanisms with other military units.

Field Tour Along the Southern Border
According to the General Command’s media office, the visit formed part of a broader tour covering several sites, areas, and towns along the southern border belt. The deputy commander underlined the importance of discipline and heightened readiness to carry out assigned tasks with high efficiency.

Visit to al-Wigh Base
The tour also included al-Wigh Military Base, where Haftar reviewed the status of units stationed there and their mandate to secure the area and counter cross-border criminal groups.
During the visit, he met local residents, listened to their needs, and affirmed the General Command’s commitment to addressing citizens’ concerns and improving living conditions in border regions.

Inspection of the Kufra Production Project
Haftar inspected the Kufra Production Project, implemented under the National Development Authority’s supervision as part of the 2025 agricultural development plan, which includes upgrading date-palm and olive farms and supporting agricultural ventures across the South.

Border Crossings and Security Readiness
The tour further covered the No. 17 border crossing, where Haftar examined the performance of units tasked with its security and the procedures in place to ensure effective operations, praising the forces’ discipline and efforts.
He concluded with a visit to the Tummo crossing, following up on workflow and commending the deployed units, while reiterating the General Command’s determination to bolster unit readiness to execute their missions with maximum efficiency.
