Nesma tallies flood damage and seeks urgent support
Libya – The mayor of Nesma municipality, Ahmed Al-Said, said about 20 homes had been damaged by floods, along with a number of government premises.
Area described as disaster-hit
Speaking exclusively to Al-Masar TV, Al-Said said Nesma could be described as a “disaster-hit” area, stressing that it had so far received no support or assistance from the Government of National Unity.
He pointed to an urgent need for trucks and heavy equipment to clear flood debris and silt, noting that a complete power cut across the area had halted basic services and bakery operations.
Closed roads and relative calm
Al-Said warned that several main and secondary roads linking Nesma to neighbouring areas were closed and urgently needed to be reopened.
He concluded that the situation in the area was relatively stable after a night he described as the hardest for residents.
