Saddam Haftar in Sirte: “No Return to Chaos… Unity of Decision and Sovereignty Is Non-Negotiable”
Libya — Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, thanked God “who has turned fear into security, destruction into reconstruction, and conflict into unity and cohesion,” expressing his delight at being among the people of “steadfast” Sirte—its elders, notables, and youth—while conveying greetings from the Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar.
A salute to Sirte and the steadfastness of its people
He affirmed that the Commander-in-Chief holds deep pride in the historic city of Sirte and its resilient people, “who faced the scourge of wars and terrorism with patience, faith, and resolve.” Sirte, he said, “has known pain but never defeat; it tasted the bitterness of terror yet never lost hope.”
Sirte rises as a city of security and reconstruction
“Thanks to the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and the stand of its honorable people,” he said, “Sirte is rising again as a city of security and construction—a field of projects, rebuilding, and development—regaining its role as Libya’s beating heart and a meeting point for its people from east, west, and south.” What is being achieved in Sirte today, he added, is “a message of loyalty to the nation,” proving that Libya “can only be built by the hands of its sons—and that what war destroyed, sincere will, clear vision, and dedicated work can restore.”
No return to chaos… one national decision and intact sovereignty
“We stand in Sirte today to say: we will not allow a return to chaos,” the Deputy Commander-in-Chief declared. “The chapter of terrorism has been closed by the sacrifices of our martyrs, and we will not permit anyone to tamper with Libya’s unity and stability.”
He stressed that all efforts are now “devoted to the unity of Libya across all its regions, so that there remains one national decision and sovereignty that is whole and undiminished.”
He concluded with a prayer: “May God protect Sirte and its people, and may He protect Libya from all harm. Peace and God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.”
