Ubari Refinery Moves Closer to Implementation as EPC Bids Come In

Ubari refinery enters main tender phase

LIBYA – Contractors have submitted bids for the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the Ubari refinery, according to an economic report published by the international magazine Oil & Gas Middle East.

The report, followed and summarised by Al-Marsad, cited energy-sector sources as confirming that contractors have submitted bids for the main contract to build the refinery, which is to have a refining capacity of up to 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Contract expected to exceed $600 million

The report added that the bids are now under technical evaluation, and that the value of the EPC contract is expected to exceed $600 million, with the works scheduled to take up to 50 months. It said the names of the bidding companies had not been disclosed.

Planned refinery products

According to the report, the refinery is designed to produce propane and butane, petrol, kerosene, diesel and fuel oil.
