Al-Koni: Lt Gen Saddam Haftar backs institutional rapprochement and the 4+4 deal; Abdulnabi will help implement it
LIBYA – Presidential Council member Musa Al-Koni said his meeting with Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Lt Gen Saddam Haftar aimed to bring views closer, unify military institutions and build a single army, arguing that the state cannot carry out its duties without a unified military institution.
Opening to the west and support for 4+4
In comments to Al-Masar TV, Al-Koni said Lt Gen Saddam Haftar was, in his assessment, showing a desire to bring positions closer and openness towards the western region, and strongly supporting the 4+4 mini dialogue committee agreement.
Abdulnabi’s role and elections
He said House of Representatives Speaker Salehin Abdulnabi was seeking to unify the country and clear obstacles to elections, and that his election was an important step towards unifying institutions and delivering the electoral process. Al-Koni said he believed Abdulnabi would help implement the 4+4 agreement, describing it as the only way out of the Libyan crisis with both local and international support.
