Salary scale awaits guarantees it can be implemented and sustained
LIBYA – House of Representatives member Saleh Fahima has said there is no set date for approving the unified salary scale, stressing that the project needs a careful technical and financial study to ensure the law can be implemented and sustained, rather than setting a date that may prove impossible to meet.
Fair pay and responsibility for implementation
In a statement to the Al-Raed news network, Fahima said achieving fairness in salaries did not mean paying all employees the same, but treating them equitably according to their qualifications, experience, the nature of their work and their responsibilities, and addressing unjustified disparities without affecting legally acquired rights.
He noted that the problem was not limited to the absence of a unified scale, but also included the multiplicity of laws and exemptions and the uneven application of existing legislation.
He stressed the need for a system based on unified criteria that would prevent the imbalances from recurring.
Responsibility is shared, he said, between the House of Representatives, through legislation and oversight, and the government, through providing the funding and implementing the scale, with the aim of guaranteeing a fair and stable salary that reaches citizens on time.
