Tripoli teachers’ union chief says Souq Al-Juma and central Tripoli schools are shut as teachers continue their sit-in over working conditions
LIBYA – Ashraf Aburawi, head of the Tripoli Teachers’ Union, said all schools in Souq Al-Juma and central Tripoli are closed in response to the unions’ call for a sit-in and strike, while teachers continue their protest.
Wide Response to the Sit-In
In remarks to Libya Al-Ahrar television — which broadcasts from Turkey with Qatari funding — Aburawi said there were no signs of the school year returning in schools east or west of Tripoli, describing that as reflecting a wide response to the sit-in.
