Al-Alwani links weapons chaos to unifying institutions
LIBYA – Military researcher Sharaf al-Din Ali Al-Alwani described cities in western Libya, including Tripoli, Misrata and Al-Zawiya, as having turned into a “state within a state.”

In remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Alwani said armed groups, formations and those benefiting from the status quo hold the keys to an open arms market available to whoever pays. He added that the problem is not limited to trafficking in weapons and Ukrainian drones, but extends to a black market that has made everything permissible, in his words.
He argued that this reality will only end when efforts to unify Libya’s military and security institutions succeed, and when all weapons stockpiles are placed under the banner of the General Command.
