Al-Jehani: The “4+4” Track Is the Right Path to End the Split and Unify State Institutions

Al-Jehani calls for practical steps to end the division

LIBYA – House of Representatives member Issam Al-Jehani said on Monday that a long time has passed since the political agreement between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, yet obstruction continues.

A Path to End the Split

In remarks to Sputnik, Al-Jehani said the formation of the “4+4” committee marked a new step that won the House of Representatives’ backing as a track aimed at ending the division and unifying state institutions, adding that obstruction persists while the two councils’ speakers remain in their posts.

He noted that High Council of State sessions also face problems linked to the lack of a legal quorum, pointing to the continuation of these obstacles whether openly or behind the scenes.

He added that the international community supports the track led by the “4+4” committee, describing it as the right path to end the split and move toward unifying state institutions.

Call for Practical Steps

Al-Jehani stressed that what is needed is to move from meetings and statements to practical steps that lead to ending the division, emphasising that international support for the “4+4” committee is the path that should be pursued in the next phase.
