Alberini highlights opportunities for Italian companies in Libya
LIBYA – Italian Ambassador to Libya Gianluca Alberini said Italian companies have wide economic opportunities in the country, stressing that Italy is a key trade partner for Libya with a presence in several sectors, in remarks reported by the Italian news agency Nova on his country’s companies taking part in an economic forum in Misrata.
According to the report, which was followed and summarised by Al-Marsad, Alberini said Italian companies can work in Libya while benefiting from institutional support, and that relations between the two countries extend to areas beyond the economy.
Cooperation in security, defence and education, and the embassy’s role
“Italy is welcome,” Alberini said, describing his country as a key trade partner and a leader in a number of sectors, including security, defence and education as well as the economy.
He said the Italian diplomatic mission was ready to support Italian companies in their activities, stressing the importance of issuing visas to facilitate trade and direct meetings between Italian and Libyan businesspeople.
Improvement in Tripoli and the need for legal and security guarantees
The ambassador said Tripoli was changing and improving month by month, but noted that the situation had not yet fully stabilised, adding that working in Libya remains possible with the necessary security precautions and appropriate legal guarantees.
