Bouzaakouk Criticises Cyprus and Greece Over Stance on Libya’s Maritime Rights Despite Past Libyan Support

Bouzaakouk recalls Libyan support for Cyprus and Greece

LIBYA – The head of the Benghazi Forum for Economic Development, Khaled Bouzaakouk, has said that during the Gaddafi era Libya gave Cyprus and Greece political support, aid, facilities, investment and soft loans worth millions of dollars, which he believes contributed significantly to their development and stability from the early 1970s until the mid-1980s.

Criticism of the two countries’ positions in the Eastern Mediterranean

In a Facebook post, Bouzaakouk said that the two countries now stand, as he alleged, in an alliance with the Israelis against Libya’s maritime rights in the Mediterranean, voicing his dismay at what he saw as a shift in their positions towards Libya.
