Libya – Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, inaugurated in Benghazi Libya’s first grass arena dedicated to showjumping — and the largest by area in North Africa — in the presence of Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad and equestrian enthusiasts.
The opening coincided with the close of the Benghazi showjumping rounds, held on the new grass surface with riders from across Libya taking part in competitions spanning multiple categories.
The arena forms part of efforts to support equestrian sport, develop its facilities, and provide a suitable setting for competitions and sporting events.
