UAE Cup round at two-day Benghazi carnival
LIBYA – Benghazi hosted the 17th round of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses on 31 October, with 15 horses competing at the Al-Watan Shooting and Equestrian Club, according to a sports report.
The report, published by the international news network Big News Network, the main points of which were followed and summarised by Al-Marsad, said the event was held in Libya for the second consecutive year as part of the 33rd edition of the Cup series and within the third Libya Heritage Carnival.
Dirt-track races and UAE support
The carnival featured ten races on its first day and six on its second, with the Cup race run over 2,000 metres on a dirt track, the report said, adding that the series enjoys the support and patronage of the UAE leadership to develop purebred Arabian horse racing and support owners and breeders around the world.
It quoted Matar Suhail, chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, as saying that holding the round in Libya again reflects the competition’s standing among owners and breeders of purebred Arabian horses.
