Two nationalities barred from entering through Libyan ports of entry
LIBYA – Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad has issued a decision barring nationals of Afghanistan and Iran from entering Libyan territory through land, sea and air ports of entry, while specifying categories exempt from the ban.
Exemptions for diplomatic missions and education and health workers
The decision, a copy of which was received by Al-Marsad, exempts members of diplomatic and consular missions accredited to the Libyan state and their family members covered by diplomatic privileges, as well as those working in teaching and in the medical and allied health professions, provided they obtain the necessary approvals and employment contracts from the competent ministry, in accordance with the legislation in force.
Deportation and immediate implementation
Article 3 of the decision tasks the Interior Ministry, in coordination with the relevant authorities, with implementing the decision immediately, circulating it to all land, sea and air ports of entry, and taking steps to deport holders of the two nationalities who do not have valid residence permits.
Hammad stressed that the decision takes effect from the date of issue, that any provision contrary to it is repealed, and that the authorities concerned are tasked with implementing it.
