NOC Hails New Mellitah Achievement in Capturing Associated Gas

Pilot operations begin on Mellitah project moving gas 40 kilometres to Abu Attifel field

Libya – The National Oil Corporation announced that Mellitah Oil and Gas has successfully implemented a project to use gas from the “KK” station, with pilot operations starting on Thursday morning.

Full recovery of associated gas

The corporation said the project’s importance lies in recovering all associated gas from the station’s wells — 15 million cubic feet a day — and moving it through a 40-kilometre pipeline to the Abu Attifel field.

It added that the volumes will be processed at the natural gas liquefaction plant, then pumped towards the Zueitina hub and linked to the coastal network, feeding the national energy grid and supporting domestic market needs.

Cutting emissions and reaching zero flaring

NOC said that alongside its economic value in boosting production and supporting sustainable operations, the project is a key step towards cutting emissions and protecting the environment, and backs the corporation’s strategy of reaching “zero gas flaring” by 2030.

Praise for delivery teams

The chairman of the National Oil Corporation’s board conveyed greetings to the company’s management committee chair and members, all staff and everyone who contributed to delivering the project, expressing thanks and appreciation for their efforts.
