NOC Nears Launch of Associated Gas Unit at Bouri Field, Targeting End-October Start-Up

Bouri field gas unit nears operation

LIBYA – The National Oil Corporation (NOC), through Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, plans to complete the final procedures for bringing into operation a new unit to capture associated gas and reduce flaring at the offshore Bouri field, with the project set to start up at the end of October.

100 million cubic feet a day and a zero-flaring plan

According to the NOC’s media office, the project will allow around 100 million cubic feet a day of associated gas (equivalent to 25 billion cubic feet a year) to be put to use, boosting supplies to the local market and the power generation sector and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 1.5 million tonnes a year.

The project, described as an environmental and strategic achievement, forms part of the NOC’s plans to make optimal use of natural resources and reach zero flaring by 2030, balancing higher production and greater operational efficiency with environmental protection in line with approved international standards.
