Calculated ambiguity in the State Council’s position
Libya – Libyan political analyst Ibrahim Asweiti said the High Council of State’s position on the 4+4 agreement is marked by what he described as “calculated ambiguity”, arguing that it largely aligns with the Presidential Council’s stance without an explicit rejection of the deal, for fear of isolation or exclusion from ongoing political arrangements.
Pressure that may push towards ratification
Speaking to Erem News, Asweiti added that pressure may push the council to ratify the agreement, especially with what he described as a warming of relations between its president, Mohamed Tekala, and Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah.
