Murad Agha Mosque undergoes technical assessment for restoration
LIBYA – A report by Iran’s International Quran News Agency (IQNA) has described consultations between Tajoura Municipality and the Historic Cities Management Authority on restoring the historic Murad Agha Mosque, which dates back to the Ottoman era.
Protecting Ottoman and architectural heritage
The report, followed and summarised by Al-Marsad, said the consultations aim to protect the city’s architectural and cultural heritage, preserve its historic landmarks and revive buildings of heritage value.
Assessing damage and cracked columns
It noted that technical teams from the authority had assessed the mosque’s condition and identified deterioration and damage to a number of columns and walls, as well as cracks requiring treatment. Suitable restoration methods are being studied and a technical framework is being prepared to preserve the building and allow its renovation.
