Douga: Libyan Street Is Angry Over Living Costs, Power and Fuel — Crisis Exceeds Government’s Capacity
LIBYA – Ahmed Douga, deputy head of the Libyan Nation Party, said the Libyan street is seething over living conditions and the deepening electricity and fuel crises, as well as deteriorating services.
Any Uprising Would Not Be Over Bread Alone
Speaking to Erem News, Douga ruled out that any potential uprising would be over bread alone, saying most Libyans have not yet reached that stage.
He added that if an uprising did occur, it would be because of the general deterioration in living conditions.
Crisis Bigger Than the Government’s Capacity
Douga concluded that the government is working hard to contain this anger, but he believed the crisis exceeds its capacity.
He noted that the electricity problem is both long-standing and recurring, alongside the liquidity crisis, arguing that no matter how hard the government tries to cover its shortfalls, it will not be able to contain the problem overnight.
