Diplomat Issa links the seriousness of sanctions to concrete measures
LIBYA – Libyan diplomat Adel Issa has argued that the threat of sanctions against those obstructing the political process in Libya is no longer merely a theoretical possibility but has become part of international discourse, saying the US message links disrupting the path to elections with potential political and legal costs.
Signs of a shift from warnings to enforcement
In exclusive comments to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Issa said the seriousness of this approach would become clear through practical steps, such as assigning responsibility to the parties concerned, action in the United Nations sanctions committee or the announcement of independent US measures, which would show whether Washington was ready to turn its warnings into enforceable measures.
