LIBYA – A news report said an expert from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given the green light to security arrangements at Tripoli International Stadium ahead of matches being staged there.

The report, published by the English-language African sports news site Africa Soccer and followed and translated by Al-Marsad, said CAF’s director of security and safety, Christian Emerua, carried out an inspection tour of Tripoli International Stadium as part of Libya’s preparations to host continental and international football matches.
According to the report, Emerua assessed security and operational arrangements during his visit and compared the sports venue with CAF’s safety requirements and standards, focusing on vital aspects deemed essential to ensure major football matches can be held safely on the pitch.
Emergencies, Evacuation and Crowd Movement
The assessment covered security systems, including emergency exits, evacuation plans and control rooms responsible for coordinating security and incident response during matches, as well as entry points for fans and delegations, with particular attention to points designed to organise movement inside and around Tripoli International Stadium.
The African expert also assessed security arrangements around the stadium and routes designated for teams, referees and match officials, as part of CAF’s efforts to ensure venues hosting its competitions meet the required safety and security standards.
Satisfaction With Readiness
The report quoted Emerua as confirming, at the end of the assessment, his satisfaction and comfort with the readiness of Tripoli International Stadium and the security and organisational measures in place, considering the assessment a strong boost to Libya’s efforts to restore the venue to the list of stadiums able to host major continental and international football matches.
