Al-Abed: Rising Loads Behind Burning of Some Electricity Distribution Stations; Remedy Requires Maintenance and Infrastructure Rehabilitation
LIBYA – Jibril Al-Abed, head of the projects department in Kufra, said the repeated burning of electricity distribution stations in several Libyan cities, most recently in Benghazi, is mainly linked to high electrical loads on some stations.

Speaking exclusively to Libya Al-Hadath television, Al-Abed stressed the need for maintenance and rehabilitation work on the infrastructure and components of the distribution system.
Exceeding Design Capacity Raises the Risk of Failures
He noted that when loads exceed stations’ design capacity, currents and temperatures in transformers and equipment can rise, increasing the likelihood of faults.
Remedy Is Not Limited to Repairing Stations After They Burn
Al-Abed said addressing these failures is not limited to repairing a station after it burns, but requires tackling the causes of rising loads and carrying out the necessary maintenance and rehabilitation work.
