LIBYA – Central Bank of Libya Governor Naji Issa met Suhail Abu Shiha, minister of economy and trade in the Dbeibah government, to follow up on economic files linked to the Libyan market’s need for basic goods and to set priorities for the coming period in a way that meets citizens’ needs.
Mechanisms for Letter-of-Credit Flows
The meeting reviewed mechanisms for the flow of documentary credits earmarked to finance supplies of goods and essential needs, to ensure import operations run smoothly.
Steps to Ease Opening Credits and Stabilise Prices
The two sides agreed a set of measures supporting the Central Bank of Libya’s efforts to organise and facilitate the opening of credits, and to strengthen coordination among the relevant authorities, helping support price stability in the market and keep basic goods flowing regularly.
Continued Coordination to Support Economic Stability
They also agreed to continue coordination between the Central Bank of Libya and the Ministry of Economy and Trade, and to take the steps needed to support economic stability and maintain balance in the domestic market.
