Al-Amin Warns Libya’s Power Brokers of the People’s Anger

Al-Amin criticises corruption and stresses the strength of citizens’ will

LIBYA – Presidential candidate Fadil Al-Amin has warned against ignoring citizens’ suffering amid mounting crises, sharply criticising those he described as the corrupt, the unjust, obstructionists, and those who give and take bribes, and arguing that talk by some parties of de facto forces ignores the role of the Libyan people.

The people as the real power

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Al-Amin said that, in his view, the people are the real effective force on the ground and, ultimately, the de facto authority, urging officials and power brokers not to mock or belittle citizens.

He warned of “the fury of a patient man” and of the prayers of the wronged, arguing that disregarding citizens’ rights and suffering could have consequences, as he put it.

Condolences to victims of drowning and electrocution

Al-Amin offered his condolences to the families of the victims of the recent disaster who drowned or were electrocuted, praying for mercy and forgiveness for them and for patience and solace for their loved ones.
