Prosecution plan to vet qualifications and the quality of education
LIBYA – The Attorney General’s Office has held a working meeting with bodies from various sectors to draw up a coordinated response plan to tackle suspected corruption linked to academic qualifications and to educational institutions that do not meet the requirements to operate, paving the way for a comprehensive review of certificates and verification of graduates’ records.
Protecting the right to education and fighting corruption
The Attorney General’s media office said the meeting was part of the Public Prosecution’s initiative to protect human rights, including the right to learning and education, and to coordinate efforts to tackle corruption and strengthen accountability and transparency.
Cooperation between prosecutors and quality assurance officials
The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination between members of the public order prosecution offices and the officials responsible for quality assurance and accreditation of educational and training institutions, ahead of implementing the plan to review academic qualifications and authenticate graduates’ records.
The review will include checking whether educational and training institutions meet the requirements for providing education in line with the rules set out in legislation.
