Movement demands full implementation of teachers’ demands
Libya – Teachers’ Movement head Ashraf Al-Hadi said starting work on pay differentials and health insurance would not be enough to end the sit-in.

Al-Hadi, in remarks to Al-Raed news network, which is close to the Justice and Construction Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, said teachers’ demands also include the unified salary scale, a teacher-protection law, an allowance for teaching and administrative staff, and resolving salaries for stalled contracts.
He called on the government for official written guarantees that include a clear and binding timetable for implementing all demands in full, stressing that teachers do not want new promises but decisions and tangible implementation.
Census is the start of action, not the end of the problem
He said compiling the pay differentials and health insurance file marks the start of the process, not the end of the problem, stressing the need to move from counting and promises to actual implementation under a clear mechanism and a set timetable.
He noted that the movement had previously given the responsible authorities a chance for dialogue and a response, saying serious dialogue must lead to tangible results because teachers’ rights cannot remain hostage to delay.
Opening schools does not fix the root of the crisis
On the Education Ministry’s instruction to open schools, Al-Hadi said students’ right to education remains protected and that teachers are not opposed to students, but argued that opening schools by administrative decision does not address the root of the problem.
He stressed that the aim is not to disrupt schooling but to reach a fair and lasting solution that returns teachers to their schools and ensures students stable and secure education.
