Amgheeb Praises Lt Gen Saddam Haftar’s Role, Links Stability to Unified Institutions and Fair Elections

Amgheeb links political consensus to support for stability

LIBYA – House of Representatives member Saeed Amgheeb has stressed the importance of the national role played by Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Saddam Haftar in supporting stability and providing the security climate needed for political consensus to succeed.

In comments to Al-Masar TV, Amgheeb said the current phase requires political, military and institutional roles to complement one another and the national interest to be put before narrow calculations, leading to a unified state with stable, legitimate institutions that draw their strength from the will of Libyans through free and fair elections.

UN mission’s extension and the 4+4 committee’s outcomes

He argued that extending the mandate of the United Nations mission should be a real opportunity to end the political crisis, stressing that priority should go to implementing the outcomes of the “4+4” mini dialogue committee and preparing the ground for elections, leading to the unification of state institutions and an end to transitional phases.
