Fahima calls for a national path alongside international efforts
LIBYA – Saleh Fahima, an MP and monitor in the Presidency of the House of Representatives, has welcomed every international effort that helps end the Libyan crisis, but warned against treating the latest Security Council resolution as a guarantee that it will be resolved, arguing that past experience has shown that upbeat diplomatic language alone does not produce solutions.
Sovereignty and national alternatives
Fahima said, according to the Laam network, that national responsibility requires Libyan institutions to harness their capabilities to implement those parts of the resolution that serve the national interest, while rejecting anything that conflicts with the state’s sovereignty or the will of its institutions.
He stressed that Libya’s future must not be tied to foreign solutions, and that realistic national alternatives should be prepared in parallel in case the international process stalls.
He said wisdom requires giving international efforts a chance, without making their success the only bet or using their failure as a justification for prolonging the crisis.
