Benghazi’s Al-Jalaa Hospital for Surgery and Accidents Nears Reopening

Work on Al-Jalaa Hospital completed as reopening approaches

LIBYA – The Development and Reconstruction Fund of Libya has announced that Al-Jalaa Hospital for Surgery and Accidents in Benghazi will reopen soon, after construction work was completed under a comprehensive maintenance and upgrade project overseen by the fund on the instructions of the General Command of the Armed Forces.

Refurbished departments and modern diagnostic equipment

The fund’s media office said building, finishing and infrastructure work had been completed and modern medical equipment installed, while hands-on training for medical and technical staff in operating and using the equipment is continuing.

The work included refurbishing the emergency, inpatient, laboratory and physiotherapy departments, equipping the power station to keep services running, and upgrading the hospital’s medical and service facilities.

The hospital has also been supplied with X-ray, CT and MRI scanners to improve the diagnosis of illnesses and injuries, in keeping with its role as one of the country’s leading surgery and trauma hospitals.

The fund said the new equipment would prepare Al-Jalaa Hospital to receive patients and the injured, provide better emergency care and offer a more suitable environment for treatment and recovery.
