Praise for parliament’s approval and the State Council’s backing
LIBYA – High Council of State member Idris Boufayed has described the House of Representatives’ ratification of the Libyan-Turkish maritime memorandum of understanding, and the High Council of State’s endorsement of that ratification, as an important and major achievement, despite what he called an unjustified delay of several years.
Grounded in international law and legal precedent
In a post on his Facebook page, Boufayed said that in his view the memorandum rests on foundations consistent with international law and with International Court of Justice rulings in similar cases in the Mediterranean and in the North Sea between France and Britain.
