Georgia Imports $144 Million Worth of Libyan Oil

Georgia records $144 million in Libyan oil imports

LIBYA – Georgia imported $144 million worth of crude oil from Libya in shipments that arrived in August and September, according to an economic report published by the Georgian English-language website Business Media Georgia, citing foreign trade data from Georgia’s statistics office, Geostat.

The report — followed and summarised by Al-Marsad — said Geostat recorded the figure for September, after Libya supplied about 178,500 tonnes of its crude oil to Georgia, the first such imports on record according to the office’s data.

Shipment prices and the receiving refinery

According to the report, the oil was priced at about $807 a tonne, equivalent to $110 a barrel, and the imports are linked to the operations of the Kulevi refinery owned by the Georgian company Black Sea Petroleum.

Two tankers and a contract running to the end of 2027

The report said the tanker Kriti Legend arrived on 28 August carrying 90,000 tonnes of crude oil, while a second tanker, Frankopan, arrived on 25 September with another cargo. Both shipments were recorded as September 2026 imports.

The report quoted the Georgian company as saying it has a contract to import crude oil from Libya running until the end of 2027.
