Prison term and fine for member of Al-Ajailat anti-smuggling and narcotics office
Libya – The Tripoli Criminal Court sentenced a member of the Al-Ajailat office for combating smuggling and narcotics to 12 years and four months in prison and fined him 100,000 dinars after he held a man and a woman without legal grounds and demanded money for their release.
Detention outside the law
The Public Prosecution said it brought the case against the defendant for deliberately arresting a man and a woman without justification and abusing his official authority by holding them outside the law.
It added that he demanded 100,000 dinars in return for releasing them.
