Meetings in Abu Dhabi to strengthen Libyan–Emirati cooperation
Libya – His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy President of the United Arab Emirates, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, received in Abu Dhabi the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lt Gen Saddam Haftar.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen and develop relations between the UAE and Libya in various fields in a manner that serves shared interests, as well as exchanging views on a number of regional issues and developments.
Defence cooperation discussed
Lt Gen Saddam Haftar also met the UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Staff Lt Gen Isa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination and developing areas of defence cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries.
General Command and Lt Gen Saddam Haftar: support for stability and stronger ties
For its part, the media office of the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces disclosed part of Lt Gen Saddam Haftar’s meeting with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the capital, Abu Dhabi, saying the talks covered the latest local and international developments, ways to strengthen and develop relations between Libya and the UAE in various fields, and a review of a number of topics of shared interest.
According to the media office, Lt Gen Saddam Haftar praised the depth of the historic ties between the two countries, valued the UAE’s supportive positions towards Libya, and affirmed that the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces stands with the UAE in facing the challenges the region is witnessing and supports efforts aimed at strengthening regional stability and security.
The office added that Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE’s standing with Libya and its keenness to continue supporting and developing relations between the two countries in a manner that serves shared interests.

In a post on his X account, Lt Gen Saddam Haftar said he had been honoured to meet Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the capital, Abu Dhabi, noting that the meeting covered a number of files and issues of shared interest, the latest regional developments, and efforts aimed at supporting stability and preserving regional security.
Lt Gen Saddam Haftar added that the meeting affirmed the importance of continuing to strengthen the fraternal and historic relations that bind Libya and the UAE, and of expanding horizons of cooperation between the two countries in various fields in a manner that serves shared interests.
He valued the UAE’s positions and its support for Libya, affirming that he stands with it in facing the challenges the region is witnessing and supports efforts aimed at strengthening regional stability and security.
