Military retirees’ status to be settled from 2027
LIBYA – Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Saddam Haftar has met Social Security Fund Director Idris Hafidah at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi, in the presence of General Command Secretary-General Lt Gen Khairi Al-Tamimi, Military Accounts Department Director Lt Gen Attia Al-Sharif and Military Retirement Department Director Salem Zoubi.
Those retired in previous years
According to the General Command’s media office, the meeting addressed the case of military personnel retired in previous years and the settlement of their status in line with their peers under Law No. 1 of 2026.
Pensions to be paid at the new rate
On the directives of the Commander-in-Chief and under the supervision of Lt Gen Saddam Haftar, payments will begin for former military retirees across Libya who have been covered by retirement decisions since the military retirement law was issued and who receive social security pensions of no more than 900 dinars a month.
From 1 January 2027
Payments will be made at the increase set out in the pay scale under Law No. 1 of 2026, in line with colleagues retired after the same law was issued, with effect from 1 January 2027.
