Field Marshal Saddam Haftar Meets Macron at the Élysée Palace During Official Visit to Paris
Libya – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Saddam Haftar, met French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace during his official visit to the French capital, Paris.
Haftar’s Greetings Conveyed to Macron
During the meeting, Field Marshal Saddam Haftar conveyed the greetings of the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Abu al-Qasim Haftar, to the French president, praising the bilateral relations between Libya and France and the progress they have witnessed across various fields, particularly in the security and military domains.
Emphasis on Continued Dialogue and Coordination
For his part, President Macron welcomed the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, stressing the importance of maintaining dialogue and coordination between the two sides and supporting tracks that contribute to consolidating stability in Libya.
Strengthening Cooperation and Regional Security
The meeting also underscored the importance of further developing bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves the mutual interests of Libya and France and contributes to strengthening security and stability in the region.
Meetings with French Officials
The French Embassy in Libya also addressed Field Marshal Saddam Haftar’s visit to Paris, noting that he held what it described as “fruitful” talks with Paul Soler, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic, General Vincent Giraud, Chief of the President’s Military Staff, and General Michel Delpit, Commander of Special Operations, to discuss the future of bilateral military cooperation between Libya and France at the highest levels.
The embassy concluded by reaffirming France’s support for the unification of the armed forces and the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya.
