Natural gas reaches Al-Khaleej power station for the first time
LIBYA – The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that its technical staff, working with the General Electricity Company, took part in bringing the first unit at Al-Khaleej Power Station into operation and connecting it to the grid using natural gas for the first time since the station was established.
Initial grid connection and operating capacity
The NOC said through its media office that technical crews from Sirte Oil Company and a team of General Electricity Company specialists had successfully connected the unit to the national grid at an initial capacity of 27 megawatts, while the load and output are being raised gradually and safely to reach full capacity soon.
The NOC said running the station on natural gas was a decisive strategic step towards strengthening the stability of the public power grid and cutting the operating costs of liquid fuel, amid wide praise for all the national staff and bodies that contributed to what it described as an exceptional achievement.
