Ouhida: Parliament to Discuss Salary Scale and Economic Solutions With Specialists Next Week

Ouhida explains the economic issues at the House session

LIBYA – House of Representatives member Jibril Ouhida has said the House session held on Monday morning focused on addressing the economic situation and completing the outstanding agenda, noting that it was agreed that the governor assigned by the House of Representatives would remain in office until a new governor is agreed upon.

In an interview on the news bulletin of Libya Al-Ahrar TV, which broadcasts from Turkey — followed and summarised by Al-Marsad — Ouhida said the session approved the formation of specialised committees in economics, law and other fields to take part in the House’s meetings next week, study economic solutions and turn suitable proposals into laws.

Chapter One of the budget and the salary scale

He explained that the proposal by House Speaker Salehin Abdulnabi to limit Chapter One of the budget to salaries and move items treated as salaries to Chapter Two will be discussed with specialists and members of the House next week, with the aim of addressing economic distortions and avenues of corruption and arriving at legislative solutions.

He added that the Ministry of Finance’s announcement that it had referred the unified salary scale to the House of Representatives means the proposal will likewise be debated and discussed with specialists next week.
