Prosecutors Detain Five Jufra Education Officials Over Data Forgery and Salary Payments

Investigations into employee data and undue salaries

LIBYA – The Public Prosecution has ordered the pre-trial detention of five suspects in a case of forging employee data in the education sector in Jufra Municipality: a former head of the sector’s control office, two employees of the control office, and the two internal audit officials at the education and financial services control offices.

The Attorney General’s Office said the investigating authority had confronted the five suspects with charges of deliberately entering the data of 13 people into the education control office’s database, even though they were not public employees, thereby enabling them to draw salaries without entitlement.

Further charges against the former controller

It added that prosecutors had also charged the former controller with continuing to sign employment contracts after his own employment had ended, and with falsely entering the data of 30 people to make them appear to be public employees, enabling them to obtain financial benefits in the form of salaries.

The Public Prosecution ordered the five suspects to be detained and directed that the proceeds be traced and that those who benefited from them be apprehended and brought in.
