Sebha centre denies tuberculosis cases on its premises
LIBYA – Sebha Medical Centre has denied reports circulated by some TV channels and social media pages about tuberculosis cases inside the centre, stressing that it has issued no statement or official announcement on the matter.
Communicable Diseases Centre is the competent body
The centre’s administration explained that following up and diagnosing tuberculosis cases falls within the remit of the Communicable Diseases Centre, not Sebha Medical Centre.
The centre’s director, Ibrahim Al-Zawi, said information about the disease should be obtained from official sources, and that any cases or developments requiring an announcement would be made clear through the Ministry of Health’s approved channels and pages.
The administration called on citizens and the media to check their facts and not to publish news that has not been issued by official bodies, so as not to cause confusion and the spread of false information.
