Security and service coordination ahead of rainfall
Libya – Major General Mansour Al-Fitouri, head of the Crisis Committee at the Tripoli Security Directorate, said security cadres and commanders were ready to protect lives and property through the rainy season after a broad meeting that brought together mayors of Greater Tripoli municipalities, security leaders and representatives of service and technical bodies, including the water and sanitation authority, public services, the meteorological service and the body responsible for dams and valleys.
In a phone interview on the Turkey-based Libya Al-Ahrar channel, monitored by Al-Marsad, Al-Fitouri said the meeting reviewed preparations for expected weather swings in the coming days and included discussion among the agencies that provide services and ease citizens’ movement on public roads. The aim, he said, was to strengthen coordination and joint work, pave the way for periodic meetings and keep weather bulletins under round-the-clock watch.
Safe routes and support for service agencies
He said the directorate’s role includes coordinating work, gathering information and dealing directly with the meteorology centre and technical agencies, as well as guiding citizens and drivers to safe routes.
The plan, he added, covers warnings about ponds and large water accumulations, changing traffic flow when needed, and supporting service agencies in pumping water and clearing drainage paths to keep traffic moving and protect public safety.
