Al-Aoul: Aim is to benefit from Malaysian certification and strengthen the presence of Libyan products
Libya – A report by the Malaysian news agency said Libya is taking part for the first time in the Malaysia International Halal Expo, whose 22nd edition is being held in Kuala Lumpur from 23 to 26 September, with the aim of drawing on Malaysian expertise and strengthening trade and cooperation between the two countries.
Drawing on expertise in halal certification
The report, which Al-Marsad followed and translated, quoted the head of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, Issam Al-Aoul, as saying the participation is aimed in particular at benefiting from the experience of Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development in halal certification, and transferring that expertise to Libya and the wider African market, given Libya’s position as a gateway to Africa.
Al-Aoul said the expo was chosen after an assessment of halal exhibitions around the world, and that the Malaysian event met criteria for credibility, reputation and other key considerations, making it a suitable platform for Libyan exhibitors and companies.
Showcasing products and facilitating trade
He added that Libyan companies are displaying high-quality products and making use of the opportunity for international engagement with participating Malaysian firms, while highlighting the quality of their own goods.
He pointed to Libya’s aspiration to ease transactions and strengthen cooperation so that companies from both countries can operate more smoothly.
Al-Aoul said Malaysian products are available in the Libyan market and enjoy a strong reputation, while Libyan products, in his assessment, have promising opportunities in neighbouring countries and international markets.
Developing the domestic system
He stressed Libya’s need to draw on Malaysia’s experience as one of the leading countries in the halal industry, and to transfer that working system to Libya to help Libyan exporters gain recognition for their products under Malaysia’s halal brand.
Al-Aoul said the Dbeibah government is working to develop the domestic system by assigning relevant institutions to review supporting regulations and policies and to learn from the experiences of other countries.
