Teachers’ Movement: Decisions by Some Education Offices to Start Classes Do Not End the Strike

Ashraf Al-Hadi says the teachers’ strike is continuing

LIBYA – The head of the Teachers’ Movement in Libya, Ashraf Al-Hadi, has said the general strike in educational institutions across the country’s regions is continuing, stressing that the announcement by some education offices that classes have begun does not mean the crisis is over or that schooling has actually resumed.

Government accused of ignoring demands

In comments to Al-Masar TV, Al-Hadi said the Government of National Unity was still ignoring the demands and rights that teachers regard as legitimate, and that the decisions issued by some education offices did not address the situation created by the failure to respond to those demands.

Executive authorities blamed for the continuing crisis

He held the executive authorities responsible for the continuing crisis and its repercussions, arguing that their handling of it lacked seriousness and practical solutions, and stressed that the strike would continue in all education districts until the demands are met.
