LIBYA – A news report by the English-language Somali site Facility for Talo and Leadership Somalia said 171 irregular Somali migrants had been returned from Libya to their country.

Hard conditions and exploitation by smugglers

The report, followed by Al-Marsad, which translated its main news points, cited the International Organization for Migration as confirming that the migrants had been stranded in Libya, faced difficult living conditions and had been exploited and abused by people smugglers.

It added that the repatriation was part of ongoing efforts by the Somali government in coordination with international partners.
