UN outreach to advance political consensus
Libya – Special Representative of the Secretary-General Hanna Tetteh discussed the 4+4 committee deal with members of the State Council in a meeting that forms part of the UN mission’s engagement with all Libyan parties after the mini-meeting agreement was signed.
Discussing the deal and the roadmap
The meeting covered the political and economic situations, the signed agreement and positions within the State Council, as well as progress in implementing the UN roadmap. Participants stressed the need to build consensus on political issues and on how to move forward.
Economic concern and readiness to work with the parties
Tetteh expressed concern over Libya’s economy and its future, affirming her commitment to continue working with the Libyan parties involved in the political process, taking into account the recommendations of the structured dialogue and other consultations, with the aim of creating conditions conducive to national elections.
