Militias Mass From Misrata Toward the Capital; Bousaida Warns of Escalation

Militia build-ups raise fears of escalation

Libya – Libyan political analyst Omar Bousaida warned that continued militia build-ups over the past two days — especially those coming from Misrata toward the capital Tripoli — and their threats against other armed groups in the capital signal that armed clashes among civilians may be imminent.

Criticism of the absence of responses

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat, Bousaida said these movements and tensions had drawn no official response from the Dbeibah government or its media, nor from Sadiq Al-Gharyani, who, in Bousaida’s view, had been quick to brand any move by national army forces as invading and aggressive troops while turning a blind eye to militia movements and the real threat they pose to civilians.
