Roof collapse halts all medical services
Libya – Asmaa Al-Labbani, director of the pharmacy department at Al-Subaytat Rural Hospital, said the hospital has for three weeks suffered a complete collapse of its ceiling fabric, which has stopped all medical and health services for residents.
Earlier maintenance described as weak
Al-Labbani, speaking by phone on a bulletin of Libya Al-Ahrar TV, which broadcasts from Turkey and was followed by Al-Marsad, said the hospital had previously undergone infrastructure maintenance, but she described it as weak. She said the ceilings of the wards began falling gradually and in succession until they collapsed completely.
Appeals without a response
She added that the hospital administration had appealed through the media to the relevant authorities and the Reconstruction Fund for urgent support and assistance, noting that there had been no response so far.
Calls to restore the hospital to service
Al-Labbani closed by joining her voice and that of Wadi Ataba municipality in calling for faster maintenance of Al-Subaytat Rural Hospital so it can return to work and provide health services.
