Audit Bureau says document circulating in its name is forged
LIBYA – The Audit Bureau’s Communications and Outreach Office denied the authenticity of a document circulating on several pages and social media platforms, attributed to the head of the Bureau and dated 8 October 2026. The document concerned the referral to the Prosecutor General of a memo about a complaint against the chair of the House of Representatives Committee for Follow-up of Oversight Bodies, amid rumours that a member of the Bureau had been threatened.
Document forged and not issued by the Bureau
In an official clarification, the office affirmed that the circulating document is forged and was not issued by the Audit Bureau, and that the data and information it contains are baseless, and denied reports attributed to the Bureau about the complaint.
Call to verify before publishing or sharing
The Bureau called on media outlets, electronic platforms and social media users to ensure accuracy and credibility, and to verify documents and their sources before publishing or resharing them, to avoid spreading misleading information that could harm the credibility of public institutions and mislead public opinion.
